Summer Begins with Papermaking
< back
Tuesday June 15, 2021 | Summer Begins with Papermaking | 9:30-12:30 |
Summer arrives at Seastone Papers studio with six vats of colorful cotton/abaca pulp and/or local plant fibers waiting for you to dip, stencil, laminate, collage, and simply create many decorative papers with wet fiber. One vat of "surprise" pulp will be a summer treat; perhaps denim pulp from old blue jeans, garden flower petals floating in the pulp, or seaweed to attach to the surface of a newly formed sheet.
A brief introduction to the basic steps in the papermaking process will include preparing pulp, followed by the fun of pulling and couching fresh sheets of paper varying in size and shape. Learn to use some great painting "tools" used by papermakers such as turkey basters, and squeeze bottles of pigmented pulp paint.
