From Paper to Book In the 21st Century Classroom

< back
Employing a variety of approaches and formats moving paper to book, you will create several books: a book of handmade paper, a collaborative book, a sketchbook journal, and the simple one-sheet-of-paper book. One focus will include step-by-step classroom techniques in forming decorative patterns and imagery in paper, pressing paper, and drying paper. You will learn how to integrate papermaking with writing, computer printing, and the ancient art of Japanese bookbinding. Another session will focus on creating a sketchbook journal that integrates science, art, and writing. Writing techniques will be discussed and explored with all book formats including a versatile collaborative book that can be useful in vocabulary review, history facts, or math problems. The final products will be books of purpose and beauty. PDPs available for teachers.
