Wednesday July 20, 2022   Japanese Bookbinding 10:00-12:30

You will make the four traditional sewing pattern samples used in Japanese bindings and discuss some contemporary variations. You will complete one or more soft cover books in the traditional Japanese style four-hole binding, using various text weight and watercolor paper in the studio. Otherwise, if you wish handmade Japanese Suminagashi papers for your book, these will be available for sale. Suitable for any mixed media depending on the type of papers you include, these books are versatile and easily personalized with choices of binding materials including various threads, beads, and shells.
