If you want to explore printing, stamping and texture related techniques without needing previous drawing or printing experience, costly materials or a printing press, this class is for you. You will print on paper using stamps you create from inexpensive and easy to use materials including foam, plastic and rubber blocks, sponges and found objects. In addition, you will explore different ways to create textured papers using everyday materials like saran wrap, wax paper, bubble wrap, and collage. One focus for this session will be on using the tools and creating the original printing matrix to continue the process independently. Everyone will leave with prints as well as several personal printmaking materials.
There will be a $15.00 materials fee payable to the instructor. At the end of the session, participants may purchase additional materials, including carving tools and printing blocks like the ones used in the workshop.
About the Instructor: Roberta Gross is a painter and collage artist who has exhibited both on Martha's Vineyard and in Washington, DC. She will be teaching abstract painting at Featherstone Center for the Arts this summer.
